You don't want to miss this. On February 19th, the 2011 Cricket World Cup will commence at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Bangladesh, with India and Bangladesh facing off. It will be the tenth cricket World Cup and will be hosted by India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. The World Cup will run all the way to mid-April.

Originally, the World Cup was going to be hosted by Pakistan, but because of 2009 attack on the national Sri Lanka cricket team, the International Cricket Council (ICC) removed Pakistan's hosting rights.

Who Is Playing in the 2011 Cricket World Cup?

Fourteen national teams are to compete out of 104 entrants. Here are the qualifying teams.

African Cricket Association

Kenya
The Kenyan cricket national team is considered one of the strongest teams of their association. In the 2003 World Cup, they made it all the way to the semi-finals, which was one of their biggest successes as a team. However, in the last World Cup in 2007, they only made it as far as the first round. It'll be interesting to see if they are able to bounce back and move back up in the tournament.

South Africa
South Africa may be considered one of the greatest cricket teams to have never won a World Cup. In 2003, they made it to the first round, and then missed out on the semifinals because of their misunderstanding about some rules about chases in the rain. In 2007, they faired better by making it into the semi-finals. South Africa is the team with the record of highest successful run chases.

Zimbabwe
Over the past several years, Zimbawbe has been set back slightly with many star players retiring or transfering to other teams. However, come time the 2011 Cricket World Cup many of the newest current players should fair okay if they've had opportunity to gain experience with international games. With a sixth place in the 2003 World Cup and making it to the first round in 2007, you'll want to be sure to see what this team brings to the table.

Americas Cricket Association

Canada
The Canadian cricket team has been in much better form the past couple years. With qualifying second in the 2009 ICC Cricket World Cup Qualification Tournament, Canada is secured a spot in the 2011 Cricket World Cup and will be a team you'll want to keep your eye on.

West Indies
The West Indies national cricket team has had a reputation of being one of the best cricket teams in the history of the World Cup. They last won a World Cup in 1975 and 1979. For the past several years, they have been trying to regain the glory of their earlier days. In 2007, they faired with a sixth place spot overall.

Asian Cricket Council

Bangladesh (Host)
Bangladesh made their first appearance at a World Cup in 1999. In 2003, they were able to qualify to the first round, and in 2007, they were able to qualify to the second round. While they've only won a very few Test cricket matches, they known to pull some pretty crazy upsets like beating Pakistan by 62 runs in the 1999 World Cup.

India (Host)
The Indian national cricket team is a force to be reckoned with as they sit in a 1st place ranking in Tests as of October 2010. They won the 1983 World Cup and were runners in the 2003 World Cup. As hosts of the 2011 Cricket World Cup, and with a great record, many eyes will be on India to see how they fair.

Pakistan
Pakistan has had a successful history with a World Cup win in 1992 and runners up in 1999. In their last World Cup in 2007, Pakistan was knocked out in a historical upset by Ireland. Pakistan didn't even make it past the first round. Let's see if they do any better this year.

Sri Lanka
In 1996, Sri Lanka won the Cricket World Cup. Over the past few World Cups, they've managed to stay strong being semi-finalists in the 2003 World Cup and runners up in the 2007 World Cup.

ICC East Asia-Pacific

Australia
The Australians have completely dominated with World Cup wins in 1987, 1999, 2003, and 2007. They are ranked 1st in ODI cricket and 5th in Test cricket. With an incredible record and history behind them, the question is asked, "Can they pull out a win again this year?"

New Zealand
New Zealand placed 3rd in the 2007 World Cup and 5th in 2003. Recently, New Zealand has been considered one of the weakest teams after setting a record for 11 straight defeats this past year.

European Cricket Council

England
England has always faired decently in World Cup matches. In 2007 and 1996, they made it to the quarter-final stage and in 1979, 1987, and 1992 they were runners up. They are ranked 4th in Test cricket and 5th in ODI.

Ireland
With their debut at the World Cup in 2011, they brought some surprises. Overall, they placed 8th, and we're responsible for beating Pakistan (who was ranked 4th in the world) in their second game and completely knocking Pakistan out of the competition.

Netherlands
The Netherlands has never really faired very well in the World Cup. In the history of the World Cup, they've only qualified for four, and when they have played, they've never made it past the first round.
